Morton, IL - The Morton Economic Development Council in partnership with Tri‐County Regional Planning Commission (TCRPC) and our regional economic development and chamber partners is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of ciCarpool, a web‐based rideshare‐matching service for Central Illinois. This service will allow employees and residents in the region to find carpool partners and share rides to work, special events, or when running errands. “Our Morton human resource roundtable identified the need for a carpool program several years ago when the gas prices were at $4 per gallon and businesses were losing employees who commuted,” said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Morton EDC.  “We brought this program idea to Tri-County Regional Planning Commission and they helped us form a regional committee for the project and ultimately secured over $22,000 in grant funding to support the implementation.”

Sign‐up and use of the ciCarpool service is free to users, thanks to grant funding from the U.S. Federal Transit Administration and Illinois Department of Transportation. Users may register and utilize the service at “We hope all of our local companies will consider promoting this program with their employees,” said Daly.  “It is easy to become an administrator so you can track how many of your employees are using the program and the collective environmental impact they are making.  You can also offer special incentives for people who carpool.”

ciCarpool is made possible thanks to a unique partnership between several local Economic Development Organizations, Chambers of Commerce, Villages, Cities, Counties, TCRPC, and major regional employers including Caterpillar, RMH Foods, Morton Industries, OSF St. Francis, and MATCOR. “Tri-County regional planning is the real hero of this initiative,” said Daly.  “Without their leadership in bringing a team together and securing our grant funding, we wouldn’t have been able to move forward with this local resource for our business community.”

A ciCarpool Workshop for Businesses interested in promoting this tool to their employees is scheduled in Morton for December 16th from 8-9am at the New Morton Fire House, 300 West Courtland.  To register, go to
