Downtown Intersection Makes IDOT Plan

Morton, IL - Today, the Morton Economic Development Council was notified that the improvement plan for the intersection of Main and Jackson Street was included in the Ilinois Department of Transportation's proposed 2012 - 2017 Transportation Plan. "The upgrade of this intersection was identified as a goal in our Village Comprehensive Plan," said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Morton Economic Development Council.  "We are very thankful to Joe Crowe and the leaders at the IDOT for including this important imrovement in their next plan."

The IDOT plan calls for the intersection of Main Street and Jackson Street to be straightened and a stop light added to relieve congestion.  The cost estimate for the improvement is $3 million dollars.  "The addition of a stop light will help us relieve congestion at the intersection and will aid in our downtown development planning," said Daly.  "We feel very fortunate to have this opportunity to work with the IDOT."



The Morton Economic Development Council exists to positively shape the future of Morton.
