Morton, IL - The Launch Business Plan Competition, currently in its second year, hosted two preliminary rounds last month, including one at the new Fire Station in Morton and one in Pekin. During the sessions, 12 entrepreneurs presented their ideas to local judges. “We had Wayne Menold with Morton Community Bank, Jim Ritthaler with PNC Bank, and David Mills with David Mills CPA as judges here in Morton,” said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Morton Economic Development Council. “I think we all felt the ideas presented had a great deal of potential.”

Six of the semifinalists will go on to compete for the winning prize of $5,000 at the Launch finals, which will be held October 13th at the Peoria Next Innovation Center. “This competition is not only a great way to award some seed funding to a promising new business start-up, but is also a way to identify local entrepreneurs who have good ideas and are in need of assistance to turn those ideas into viable businesses.”

Launch is hosted by the Morton EDC, area Chambers of Commerce, Bradley University, and SCORE. For more information, go to
