Millennia Moves to Morton

Monday, June 1, 2009

Morton, IL - “We are excited to be in Morton,” said Paul Moreno, one of three owners of Millennia, an engineering company that recently purchased the former Roecker Cabinet Building on North Main Street in Morton.  The company, most recently in East Peoria, decided to locate in Morton due to the availability of the building and the assets of the community.  “Morton is an ideal location for us,” said Moreno.  “We looked at several buildings in the Peoria area and we really liked the low tax rate and the interstate access in Morton.  We were also really impressed with the help we received from the Morton EDC.  They really made us feel welcome!”

Millennia approached the Morton EDC about a local location in early 2009.  “Millennia was a fun project to work on because the owners are so talented and really have a vision for where they want the company to go,” said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Morton EDC.  “We worked with them and with the EDC of Central Illinois and Heritage Bank to help them secure low interest loans and guarantees, including a Tazewell County Business Development Loan, which allowed them to purchase their building.”

Millennia currently has 20 employees, but hopes to double in size in future years.  “I think 40 people would be an ideal size for us,” said Moreno.  “I want to remain a company that knows their employees and has direct contact with them.  Putting our employees first and profits second is one of our company philosophies.”
