Morton Announces Second China Trip

Monday, April 1, 2013

The Morton Economic Development Council will be hosting a second trip to China this October 12-20. The trip will include stops in Beijing, Taintai, and Shanghai and will once again be a mixture of getting to know the culture of China through sight seeing and also spending time developing reltationships with China businesses and Morton's Sister City, Tiantai.  "We are eager to continue developing our relationships with Tiantai and several of the companies that we met with when we were in China last October," said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Morton EDC.

Morton began developing partnerships with China when Yinlun, a heat exchange manufacturer from Tiantai, located their US Headquarters in Morton in 2010.  The development of a sister city relationship soon followed.  "Sister City relationships open doors to establishing meaningful and lasting global friendships, partnerships, and connections," said Daly. "These trips help us continue to foster those friendships and offer opportunities to learn from each other."

The cost to join the Morton EDC on their China 2013 trip is $2400 per person (double occupancy), which includes airfare, hotel, and most meals.  Everyone is welcome. "We have local citizens and community and business leaders who are interested in joining us this year," said Daly.  "Some of the local economic development professionals in our region have also expressed an interest in joining our delegration this year."
