Morton EDC Announces Switzerland Trip

Friday, December 27, 2013

Morton, IL – Today the Morton Economic Development Council announced it will be leading a trip to Switzerland, scheduled for June 10 – 19 of 2014.  “This trip will allow us to explore some of the historic roots of Morton, visit the city where Nestle is headquartered, and pursue some additional business development opportunities for our Village,” said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Morton EDC.

Morton’s 10 day Switzerland 2014 Trip will include overnight stays in Bern and the popular tourist towns of Interlaken and Innsbruck.  Trips to Vevey, home of Nestle (parent company of Libby’s Pumpkin), and Brugg, birthplace of the founder of the Apostolic Christian Church, are also included in the itinerary.

At a total cost of $3,380 per person (double occupancy) which includes all travel (flights from Chicago O’Hare Airport), hotel, and some meals, the Morton EDC hopes that many citizens, community leaders, and business professionals will join the delegation.  “Morton has many ties to this area,” said Trustee Stephen Newhouse, Board Member for the Morton EDC.  “While much of the trip will include stops at popular tourist destinations including a train ride on the Golden Pass in Montreaux, a tour of the famous castle Neuschwanstein, and a stop at the Mirabell Gardens where The Sound of Music was filmed, we will also tour Nestle’s Alimentarium and organize several business-related meetings for those interested in exploring trade opportunities.”
