Morton EDC Intern Wins Presidential Scholarship

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

Bradley University recently announced the winner of this year's Presidential Scholarship is Ethan Harter, the Morton EDC's Student Intern.  The Presidential Scholarship is a $48,000 tuition-only award, given to a select group of applicants who possess a solid academic foundation and demonstrate Leadership and Service in their communities.

"I am planning on majoring in Entrepreneurship," said Harter. "I've carefully gone through the course lists of several programs I was interested in and decided that the Entrepreneurship program is where I want to be."

Harter, a Morton native and home-schooled high school senior, joined the Morton EDC Team last fall to pursue his passion for entrepreneurship, leadership, and strategic management.  He attended Leadership Morton this spring and is currently working on collecting historic data sets for key areas of focus in Morton.

"Working for the Morton EDC has been great!" said Harter.  "Challenging at times, but I like challenges.  I don't know where I would be without the connections I made through Leadership Morton and the Morton EDC and Chamber staff."

"We want to congratulate Ethan on this outstanding achievement," said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Morton EDC.  "Our interns are typically college students, but we made an exception for Ethan.  He is extremely bright, passionate about business development, and tenacious in his pursuits.  I can't wait to see what Ethan does in his future.  It will certainly be something bold and transformational. We feel lucky to have him on our team."
