Morton EDC Launches New WebsiteSaturday, November 29, 2008
Morton, IL – Today, the Morton Economic Development Council (Morton EDC) announced the launch of their new website, www.mortonedc.org. The site was developed by The Iona Group with photos courtesy of V Gallery. “The information and resources provided on our website will be an invaluable tool for any existing business, property owner, developer or any potential business owner,” said Jim Benckendorf, Board President for the Morton EDC. “We now have a localized resource for information and business tools to help operate or start a business.”
The Morton EDC began working with The Iona Group, a Morton communications and multi-media company, on the new website last July. “It has been great working with the Morton EDC to develop a website that serves the needs of existing businesses and entrepreneurs while at the same time communicating all that Morton has to offer companies looking to expand or relocate,” said John Feser, one of the owners of The Iona Group. “We have worked hard to build a place that meets the needs of the organization’s core constituency, existing businesses, new businesses, entrepreneurs and those looking to invest in the Morton EDC.”
V Gallery, a nationally-acclaimed photography boutique in Morton, provided photos of local businesses and business owners and managers for the new website. “We were excited to be a part of the photographic elements used for the new Morton Economic Development Council website,” said Vicki Taufer, V Gallery Owner. “Not only did I choose to make Morton the home of my business, but also the place where I want to raise my family. I am so excited to see Morton grow and continue to offer high quality standards in the community for both business and family.”
The Morton EDC’s new website has sections dedicated to site selectors, businesses, entrepreneurs, community members, the media, and investors. “The Site Selector section of the new website is very data driven,” said Jennifer Daly, CEO of the Morton EDC. “Most business location decisions begin with building and site searches and community data. We are using the national Location One Information System (LOIS) for our locality data and property listings so the information is available nation-wide.”
The business and entrepreneur sections are a compilation of assistance programs, financial resources, and tools available throughout the region to help start-up and growing companies find what they need in areas including operations, workforce development, finance, and sales. “There are dozens of great programs and resources available for local businesses, but it is sometimes difficult for our companies to know which programs, workshops, and financial tools are really worth pursuing,” said Daly. “Our website makes it easy for businesses to find the right tools by offering one place they can go to get a list of everything that we would recommend.”
Local entrepreneur Mari Briggs, owner of the Yellow Brick Boutique in Morton, remarked, “This site is fantastic! The extensive information given and available for our residents and business owners is phenomenal. I especially think the entrepreneur section is key. I would have been able to save a lot of leg work while opening my shop if I had had access to these tools."
