Workforce growth and development continues to be one of the main objectives of the Morton Economic Development Council and building the workforce pipeline plays a key factor in...
The third year of the Morton Mentor program kicked-off on Tuesday, October 29. Morton Mentor is a collaboration with District 709 that connects high school students to mentors in their field of career interest. This year, 38 Mentors have been partnered with 40 high school students and will meet three times before the closing reception in April.
Morton Mentor was created to help acquaint students to the careers that are available in their hometown while sharing valuable knowledge about next steps that are needed for entering those careers.
Morton High School senior Kelly Schaffnit said of the program, "I think doing things like this really helps narrow down [our] options and see if [these careers] are really something you'd love to do for the rest of your life."
