Morton offers one of the lowest property and sales tax rates in the region. Our property tax is 7.11% and our sales tax is 6.75%. Both rates are significantly lower than our neighboring communities of Peoria, Pekin, East Peoria, and Washington. Morton also owns their own gas company, an advantage that saves our local companies up to 7% on their gas rates each year.

In 2013, Morton High School was named the 25th best high school in the state of Illinois by the Chicago Sun Times. Morton High School also received a Bronze Level Award from U.S. News and World Report and was named one of the best 2,000 public high schools in the nation by Newsweek.
