Morton Ranked 8th for Families in Illinois

Consumer advocacy site NerdWallet ranked Morton eighth out of 220 places for "Best Cities for Young Families in Illinois." The ranking was assessed on:home affordability, growth and prosperity score, education quality, and family friendliness.

NerdWallet states "Morton, which produces over 80% of the world’s canned pumpkin, is the other city on our list outside the Chicago region. Morton had the largest median income growth, 58%, in our top 10 from 1999 to 2013. With its location between Peoria and Bloomington-Normal, Morton’s prosperity has been boosted by its proximity to the headquarters of Fortune 500 companies such as State Farm and Caterpillar. And yet, Morton still offers a winning combination of affordability and good schools: the town has a GreatSchools rating of 9, and with only 20% of residents’ median monthly income going toward housing costs, it has the most affordable housing in the top 10.  read more>
