New Restaurant Locating in Downtown Morton

Wednesday, February 1, 2012

Today, Erik Perkins announced he would be opening a Firehouse Pizza location in Morton, IL along with Edward Flores and Marcus Hazel. “We are extremely excited to be bringing Firehouse Pizza to Morton,” said Perkins. “We believe Morton’s family friendly community is a great place for Firehouse Pizza to open its seventh location.”

Central Illinois currently has Firehouse Pizza locations in Peoria, East Peoria, Washington and Normal. Firehouse Pizza offers a variety of quality pizza, wings, sandwiches, pasta bowls, appetizers, and desserts. “We only use the highest quality ingredients, dough that is made fresh daily, our signature sauce and offer a gluten free crust option,” said Perkins. “We believe our pizza is second to none.”

The new Morton Firehouse Pizza will be located on the southwest corner of Main and Adams Street in the space most recently inhabited by Hometown Pharmacy. “We feel Firehouse Pizza being in the heart of downtown Morton is an ideal location,” said Perkins. “Due to the Morton Economic Development Council’s plans to develop the downtown area, we believe we’ve chosen the perfect place to call home.”

Firehouse Pizza is the first recipient of the new Morton MicroGrant, a program launched by the Morton Economic Development Council in partnership with Morton Community Bank last fall to assist small businesses in locating or expanding in Morton. They received $5,000 in funding from the program in support of their new Morton location. “Firehouse Pizza is an ideal example of what the Morton MicroGrant was established to do,” said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Morton EDC. “In addition to the capital investment they are making in our downtown, this business will create 30 new jobs for our community and offer another downtown destination that is open in the evenings.”

Firehouse Pizza plans to open their Morton location this April. They will be open seven days a week with a daily lunch buffet starting at 11:00 AM. “With the vision and growth that the Morton Economic Development Council has planned for the downtown area, we are even more thrilled and honored to be a part of the Morton community.”
