Central Illinois (April 16, 2009) – Now is the perfect time to LAUNCH a new business! The LAUNCH Business Plan Competition encourages Central Illinoisans to make that dream of starting a small business come true. Join us for a press event and official kick-off April 21st at 2:45 at the Peoria NEXT Innovation Center at 801 Main Street in Peoria.

The LAUNCH Business Plan Competition is open to anyone who has a new business idea and plans to start that new business in the Tri-County area. There is no application fee but business plans must be submitted by August 1st. Preliminary rounds begin August 25th. The winning business plan will be chosen September 30th. The winner will receive cash prizes and a multitude of general business consulting services to get their business up and running properly.

Business Week magazine reported that if you want to start a business you have to “provide a demonstrably superior value proposition than the market's current offerings.” You have to get out of the gate fast and compete effectively against established players. You must be smart and driven-to-win. “Starting a business now will position you just right for the eventual economic recovery. You will be poised to catch the earliest wave of the turnaround and ride it to the next level.”

This competition is brought to you by the East Peoria, Pekin and Peoria Area Chambers of Commerce, the Peoria NEXT Innovation Center, Morton Economic Development Council, SCORE, and Bradley University’s Turner Center for Entrepreneurship and the Technology Commercialization Center.
