Second Company from China Chooses MortonTuesday, October 1, 2013
Today, the Morton Economic Development Council announced that Tianjin Baolai Precision Machinery Co., Ltd. will begin operations in Morton this January. Their initial operations will be housed with Yinlun Machinery. They plan to purchase or build their own facility in Morton within two years.
Baolai is a precision manufacturing company based in Tianjin, near Beijing. They manufacture and assemble parts for industrial and agricultural equipment. Their largest United States clients are Caterpillar and John Deere.
As a Chinese supplier of Caterpillar and John Deere, Baolai has been pursuing business contracts in the United States. “Representatives from Baolai met with us in October to explore opportunities to locate in our community,” said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Morton EDC. “Their ability to co-locate with Yinlun and have our needed assistance with international location issues was instrumental in their decision to choose Morton for their US home.”
Baolai plans to create a handful of jobs initially. However, they hope to grow into a full-scale precision machining operation over the next few years that can really support Morton’s economy, both as a property tax payer and as a major employer.
“They have many of the same questions and needs Yinlun did when we began working with them,” said Daly. “Land and building ownership, taxes, and basic business operations are different here in the United States. Having people who are able to offer assistance is critical.”
Baolai is the second company that has chosen Morton for their United States headquarters. They are very excited to make Morton their new home. "This is another important Caterpillar supplier, and the choice to locate in Morton will benefit the community," said Brad Braker, President of the Board of Directors for the Morton EDC.
